Design 8 takes its name from the Ashta Dikpalakas — the eight guardians of direction that have shaped Indian architectural thought for centuries. That inspiration runs deeper than our name: it guides how we think about light, movement, balance, and orientation, drawing on the wisdom of Vaastu not as rigid rules, but as a way of understanding what makes a space feel natural to live in.
We believe these principles are just as relevant today, and read through a contemporary lens, they help us create homes that feel intuitive, enduring, and deeply personal to the people who live in them.
For us, every home is an exercise in thoughtful decision-making — sometimes designing and crafting a piece ourselves, sometimes recognising exceptional craftsmanship that already exists and knowing it belongs in a home's story. We don't chase novelty or a signature formula.
